NHL API

Network Map

Every public endpoint of the NHL's web and stats APIs, drawn as a transit map. Each line is a kind of data and each station is an endpoint. Interchanges are where one endpoint gives you the ID another one needs, so you can change lines there.

Riding the network

No ticket required

Both hosts are open. There's no API key and no sign-up. They're also undocumented and unofficial, so paths and fields can change without notice.

Call it from a server

Responses don't include CORS headers, so a browser on another site can't fetch them directly. Call the API from your backend, a serverless function or a small proxy, then pass the JSON to your front end.

“now” is a redirect

Endpoints ending in /now or /current answer with a 307 redirect to the dated version, such as /v1/standings/2026-10-09. Make sure your HTTP client follows redirects.

Names come in two languages

Many text fields are objects like {"default": "Maple Leafs", "fr": "…"} rather than plain strings. Read .default for English.
